VOIP uses the infrastructure of Internet-based protocol TCP/IP-, to transmit voice, without the use of conventional lines to establish the calls, making prices much lower than those of traditional telephony. Given its advantages, Bruce Schneier, renowned security researcher has drawn attention to the possibility that Internet telephony will become the new target of spammers. In his view, history shows that so far the spammers have taken advantage of any media to achieve their ends.
Although this is a potential threat, and are exploring possible solutions such as filters or white lists based on patterns, so that VoIP technology to cope with spam, in a similar way as is fighting at present in the e-mail . June 9th, 2009
